Siri Burlew Photography brings to us a lovely anniversary session.
This couple are performing artists - she is a professional singer/actress and he is a director/script writer. They wanted suggestions for an anniversary shoot, and I knew just the place and gown!
Bishop's Castle, a famous Colorado landmark provided a stunning and unusual setting for hearts more entwined than the day they wed - 2 years earlier. Love is reason - there need be no other!
Q: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
A: Andrew and I met during a rehearsal for a musical theatre production that I was performing in! He had been hired to shoot a promotional video for the production, and I was on set the day of shooting. Afterwards, he was asked to do the sound design for the show and ended up running the sound for each performance, so we were around each other a lot.
Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. (example: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?
A: Andrew is an extremely thoughtful, kind, and selfless person. He inspires me to be more so than I already am, and I hope that I inspire him to be a better person in other ways. We both share a love of performing, theatre, and storytelling and are pursuing our goals and dreams in different ways while being each others' support, and I couldn't ask for more than that. We love to see shows, movies, and read together and discuss all the elements of what made each story impactful (or not!).
Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship? (these may often be the same moment, but aren’t always)
A: I knew Andrew was different when we first started getting to know each other because I could tell that he put his faith in God first, and I also had not been able to find anything wrong with him that would be a deal breaker for me! In the past, I had always written off guys because I found something I didn't like about them. With Andrew, that never happened - every new thing I learned just made me fall in love with him more.
Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
A: Andrew completely surprised me! He took me to the set where we first met (the musical theatre promo video shoot), and had set up the room with photos of us, memories, and played a song that meant a lot to both of us. Then he left me in the room for a moment to soak it all in, and returned to propose. He told me the things that I have shown him and how he wanted to have me in his life, all by way of a story he had written about a princess (myself) and a boy (him). He planned it very quickly with the help of his sisters and parents!
Q: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!
A: My ring is perfect - Andrew chose it himself after we had a few conversations about what I would prefer in a ring. It is white gold, delicate, and fits my hand beautifully. When we went to buy wedding bands, I chose the simplest, thinnest one I could find because I loved my engagement ring so much and didn't want to take away from how beautiful it was!
Q: Are you excited to start planning your wedding day? Do you have any ideas in mind yet?
A: We are already married :)
