Haley from Native Expressions Photography shares with us this wedding story of love and determination. What does one do when nature has the upper hand on your wedding day? You make it work, and your family and friends are there to see it does!
Amber & Spencer came to me back in 2015 & asked if I would be a part of their wedding celebration. Honored as can be, I accepted quickly. We headed to the beach to document their engagement. A year later, we were to head to the beach to document their wedding! About a week before the big day, word of a hurricane started brewing in the news. With Florida’s recent track record, a hurricane didn’t raise any alarm. However, as the days creeped further along, Hurricane Matthew started to cause worry. Amber & Spencer had just changed their venue to Si Como No Inn in Flagler Beach, FL & planned on spending the entire wedding day among friends there. That changed quickly once the storm hit. Flagler Beach suffered a fatal hit. Hurriane Matthew wiped away A1A & destroyed the beach. The bridges were shut down making a Flagler Beach wedding impossible. While our hearts broke for our little beach town, they also soared with love! Spencers parents housed the couple & some wedding guests during the storm. Then opened up their house for a beautiful backyard wedding. Amber & Spencer couldn’t have dealt with the situation better. It was a chaotic wedding day, having to throw out the timeline & plans they’d been working on for a year. It went seamlessly though, considering Flagler county had no power & was out of ice. A hurricane can’t stop love! Thank God Amber & Spencer were surrounded by the best family/friends & team of vendors to give them a memorable wedding day.
