The 50's to me seem like such a fun time! The style is fun and flirty yet classy and sophisticated. I loved hearing stories told by my mother about growing up in the 50's. The dinner parties, eating off of fine china, camping trips, the picnics and walking hand in hand with the one you love. It seemed natural for this stylized wedding to come about! I had a friend who had a friend with this beautiful blue pickup truck and little camper. Though the camper and truck are not exactly from that decade, it looks amazingly close! This stylized wedding had all of the elements that my mom spoke about and then some!
The weather called for a warm spring day, but what did we get...rain showers. No worries! Rain on your wedding day is good luck! It made for some beautiful images and the sun came out to join us later.
Renee and Chapin are a real couple who stepped up to model for this 50's styled wedding. They had met in another state they both were visiting at a bus stop they weren't waiting for. I think they really fit the part and were very convincing! Renee looked stunning wearing a simple white, 50's Swing Dress complete with a petticoat a light mint blue sweater and a pair of white heals. Her look pulled together with her modest birdcage styled veil, lovely strand of pearls, popping red lipstick and a skilled winged eye. Chapin looked equally handsome wearing brown dress shoes, a pair of khaki pants, a white button-down shirt, a vest that was brown with red pinstripes and a gorgeous brown checked tie, polished off with a Double Windsor Knot.
She had a simple bouquet made with pink and white carnations surrounded with babies breath. and his boutonniere coordinated well.
The amazing cake was a 4 layer wedding cake with Buttercream Frosting that had four different colors for a gradual color change. The cake matched the interior of the camper and the exterior of the truck. In keeping with the theme of the day, the cake topper said it all, "Just Hitched"!
Speaking of Hitched, the camper is an Aristocrat Lo-liner with a dinette table, stove, mini fridge. The interior was teal and accented with pops of red with a black and white checked floor. The counter tops were designed with road maps and glass. The pickup truck was a beautiful baby blue Ford F100 Twin I Beam Custom cab.
Other vintage items used for this styled wedding include a Kodak Brownie Camera, Kodak Duaflex II, a vintage Coke Machine with glass Coke bottles, a 1920's typewriter, a record player, vintage AM radios and a beautiful china pattern from Czechoslovakia.
