Katie Marie and Jordan are the only couple I’ve had to ask to pull apart slightly during their engagement session. They’re seriously head over heels for each other! Their engaged glow shined in every image I captured of them at Rinard Orchid Greenhouse on Ball State University’s campus in Muncie, Indiana.

Jordan knew after dropping Katie Marie off from their first date that she was the one. Before meeting her, he never saw himself getting married. Since, he's taken care to get her the perfect engagement ring, paying attention to her growing family tradition of incorporating sapphires into the setting. He proposed to her on a hike, stopping at a waterfall to pop the question.

Rinard Orchid Greenhouse was the perfect intimate and organic backdrop to their bohemian style. To give you an idea of how impressive it is, the greenhouse contains the largest university-based orchid collection in the United States. It’s home to more than 2000 plants. Their staff maintain more than 240 genera, represented by more than 1500 species and 500 hybrid orchids. This isn’t just a room filled with pretty flowers, it’s a place of conservation and education. But, it’s known as a local treasure mostly to students, not the greater public. Inside the greenhouse, you’re surrounded by hanging vines, roots, and of course, orchids of every variety you can imagine. This added amazing texture and color to the photos while effecting the light in beautiful ways.

In preparing for their shoot, Katie Marie, an art teacher with a flair for DIY, made two unique floral crowns. In the session, she wore them in two separate photo series so the images are varied from the rest of the shoot.

Toward the end of our session is perhaps my favorite part. I asked them in the third and final room of our time in the greenhouse to tell each other why they wanted to marry the other person. I said that it doesn’t matter if I can hear you, I just want to let this be a private moment that you can look back on. Their emotional reactions said it all. I felt chills as I captured something truly special between two people deeply in love.

To end the session, Katie Marie threw on her second floral crown and a leather jacket, adding an edgy vibe to our final series of photos. Overall, this session is bohemian, stylish, unique, and full of genuine emotion.
