Lindsay from Wild Onyx Photography has shared with us this simply styled mountain elopement. This elopment is a perfect example of how you can have the perfect elopement for just "you!"
Planning an elopement does not have to be hard! Start with a mutual agreement between you and your fiance that this is what you truely want to do and start planning!
This mountain elopement was to die for emotionally. Lauren and Robert were so adventurous throughout their day but you could tell they did it with love. The passion they have for each other really showed throughout this elopement. I had a great time capturing their memories of their special day!
Q: Tell us about your wedding! What was the inspiration behind your day? Did you have a specific theme, style or color palette? Did you incorporate any cultural or religious traditions in any part of your day?
A: For our special day we always dreamed of a simple wedding. Sunrise in the mountains seemed so romantic to us. We both love all things outdoorsy so it could not have been more perfect. We agreed on a nuetral color palette and did incorporate a simple traditional ceremony by the lake.
Q: Let's talk wedding decor. How did you decorate your space for the ceremony and the reception? Was any part of the decor DIY?
A: The mountains and lake were decor enough. A few small decorationa were provided by our vendors. No part of the decor was DIY.
Q: What were the florals like in your wedding? Did you use flowers in any of your design elements like the bridal bouquets, centerpieces or ceremony backdrop? Did they play an important part in the overall style of your wedding?
A: The florals were absolutely beautiful thanks to our florist, Golden Thistle Design. The only floral areangement we had was for my bouquet.
Q: Did you personalize the day in any way (food trucks, guest entertainment etc.)? What were some of your favorite parts of your wedding?
A: My favorite part about the wedding was the intimacy. The mountains were all the entertainment we needed. We personlized the day with the love we share for eachother and the mountains!
Q: Let's talk fashion. How did you both choose your wedding day look? Describe the looks in detail.
A: I wanted something flowy and with neutral colors. I liked the floral look a lot. I fell in love with a dress from Vici and immediately knew it was the one. It was black and flowy, with beautiful floral pattern. The groom complimented my dress with a white button up short and tan pants.
Q: How did you meet? Tell us about the proposal.
A: We met in college. We were always friends, but I had a boyfriend for the first two years I knew him. We were in the same major (product design), so we spent many hours together. When my boyfriend and I split up, we became even closer. It wasn’t long until we were dating. We dated for a year and half before he proposed. We are both big fans of history and we have always wanted to visit Rome. We finally got our opportunity the last semester of our senior year. Our class took a trip to Rome, and so I had no reason to suspect anything special would happen. He proposed after taking me to see the colloseum and sunset. Right as we passed under a large arch, he grabbed my hand and bent down on one knee. It was the most romantic thing ever.
Q: What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
A: The most special moment was when we said our vows. They were so personal and the moment was so intimate.
Q: Do you have any wedding planning or marriage advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?
A: My wedding was very simple, so there was not much to plan. However, I do advise to go ahead and spend the money on a good photographer. You only get that moment once, so it is worth it to have it perfectly captured.
