SPhotography did a phenominal job capturing the love between Anna and Jamie! You'll have to read below to see how this intimate elopement was created. Pretty spectacular!
I can't come up with another couple that is more fun, nerdy, and outdoor-loving as these two. They both cherish the outdoors and their hearts belong to the Pacific Northwest.
When Anna first came to me about wedding photography, she had a few ideas about her theme and colors. She was going for sunflowers, yellow and grey. Very adorable. We got to talking during her consult and later via e-mail. She confessed she wasn't having a great time finding a venue, deciding on invites, and trying to get all the stuff together that a more traditional wedding might require. I said, "Girl, if you don't want to do all that stuff, then you don't have to. Have you ever thought about having more of an intimate destination wedding/elopement?"
I didn't hear from her for a couple days, then she wrote me. "Please tell me if this sounds ridiculous. I was thinking we could get married at Clearwater Falls. It's beautiful and on the North Umpqua River and we'd only invite a few people. There would also be great opportunities for photos."
I replied with, "That sounds like a wonderful way to get married."
And that was that. Anna got way more excited about planning and we kept in contact throughout the whole process, becoming friends. Her now-husband Jamie made their sign that let waterfall visitors know there was a wedding taking place. It turned out beautifully!
After the ceremony and the absolutely stunning portraits, we headed back to Anna and Jamie's house for a small reception, complete with food, cake, and some sparklers. When the average wedding costs upward of $30,000, this was a beautiful and intimate alternative that warms my heart to think about.
My advice to future brides who have a budget: prioritize a few things you really want. Make them amazing! If you want a great venue, amazing dress, and rad photographer, invest in those things. Do you want an amazing venue and enough delicious food to feed everyone for a week? Do it! Your wedding will be beautiful no matter what, but it's nice to have a few really great elements than have everything but it all be just so-so.
